Baltimore Clayworks

Deborah Bedwell, Clayworks’ Executive Director, knew that the first quarter of 2005 would be an exciting but challenging time as her organization, Clayworks, launched the first-ever Tour de Clay. The arts event involved more than 160 ceramic art exhibitions and featured nearly 900 artists throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia.

Clayworks enlisted the help of CCTS to capture all the information about these events, locations, and artists in an easy-to-use database and make the information available to audiences around the state.

CCTS created a database-driven website where the public could search for attractions by area of interest, artist, or gallery name. The site featured a calendar of events, maps, artist profiles, and photos of selected artwork. Additionally, through a private administrative site, Clayworks could update and manage Tour de Clay information easily, effectively using the web in marketing the entire six-week event.

Deborah and the Clayworks staff found the CCTS interface easy to access and a snap to use.
