CASA of Prince George’s County
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recruits and supports volunteers to serve as court advocates for abused and neglected children who have been removed from their homes. With a limited staff and a limited budget, Executive Director Ann Marie Foley Binsner was looking for a cost-effective ways to find and train her volunteers.
Working with CCTS, she achieved her goal by transforming the CASA website into a more effective tool for the child advocates.
To support existing volunteers, CCTS built an extranet area, accessible through the web but available only to approved individuals. CASA can use the extranet to provide specialized information and support services. This private area also features a discussion board for volunteers and a web library of resources.
To encourage volunteer intake, CCTS streamlined the volunteer application process and added an online form to encourage new volunteers.
CCTS redesigned CASA’s existing website to present a more polished image for the organization. CCTS also designed an easy-to-use content management tool that enables CASA to post and maintain content on its own.
CCTS worked with CASA on this project through a Compassion Capital Grant provided by Associated Black Charities.
