Volunteers

Sharing your technology-related knowledge and skills can make a huge difference in a nonprofit’s ability to deliver its programs and services. Volunteers at CCTS work in structured engagements with nonprofits to help those organizations gain proficiency and independence in technology use.

When it comes to technology, nonprofits have a wide assortment of issues. We work with nonprofits to define their needs and the scope of their projects. Then we match them with volunteers with just the right skills. These engagements are typically for a limited time and the work can range from needs assessments for networks or data management systems, to one-on-one technology skill-building, to technology management coaching for the organization.

CCTS is looking for professionals who can:

  • Scale solutions to small organizations with limited resources
  • Design and troubleshoot small- to medium-sized networks
  • Construct small- to medium-sized dynamic websites (Open Source tools preferred)
  • Analyze business processes
  • Gather and document data management requirements
  • Facilitate changes in organizational culture to support optimal use of technology resources
  • Teach others to use MS Office applications for increased productivity: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Translate technical terms into plain English
  • Collaborate and work as part of a team

If you are interested in contributing your technical, managerial and/or training expertise to those who can really use it, CCTS can help you:

  • Work on defined projects with limited time commitments
  • Find opportunities to volunteer in non-work hours
  • Engage in projects that expand or refresh your skills
  • Understand the unique technology challenges faced by many nonprofits
  • Get to know the Baltimore non-profit community
  • Work with organizations that deliver services of special interest to you, i.e., youth, arts, healthcare, homelessness.
  • Work within a supportive team environment
